My name is Erin, but everyone calls me Red and that's just fine with me.

I'm a certified VLCE and Vegan Nutrition Specialist, fitness professional, public speaker, writer, consultant, kitchen wrangler, problem solver, host of the popular vegan podcast Red Radio, and right-hand-woman to vegan Wunderkind Chef Jay Astafa. I also co-founded The Seed in 2012, and continue to organize events across North America.

By night I'm a muay Thai practitioner, runner, Bikram Yogini, and tattoo collector. I share my pad with a vegan human, a vegan dog, and two carnivorous cats… all rescued. I hail from Toronto, Canada but Brooklyn, NYC is home.

I hustle. Hard.

Try to keep up.

EP54: Battling the Vegan Backlash with Andy & Stevie!

Seriously, y’all… it’s always a little bit surprising to discover the level of hostility some omnivores (and some industries…) hold for the vegan community.  Can’t we all just get along?

I was so thrilled to welcome both Andy Tabar from Compassion Co. and Stevie Schafer from Team Earthling to discuss the latest vegan backlash in Red Radio Episode 54.  I think we covered some pretty heavy topics, and had a good ol’ time doing it, too.  Plus I featured some hilarious pro-vegan snark at the end… just for S&Gs.  Have you heard yet?

Red Radio Episode Fifty Four features an in-depth discussion about the recent increase of what Erin Red calls ‘Vegan Backlash’, featuring activist and Compassion Co. Founder Andy Tabar, and co-host of Australian Vegan Podcast Team Earthling, Stevie Schafer!  Listen to the thorough threesome dissect some of the latest big stories in anti-vegan media, uncover the truth about walking the walk, and brainstorm on some solutions for the increasingly mainstream vegan movement.  Heavy stuff, folks!  Plus, Erin Red shares two infuriating animal-related news stories, as well as some of the latest (surprisingly) pro-vegan stories making their internet rounds!  Chock-full, I say!  Please consider supporting Red Radio by visiting Erin Red’s home base and clicking the DONATE button, and subscribe to Red Radio on iTunes today!  If you love what you hear, leave a glowing review, or drop Erin Red a line at  You can also read her blog at, and find her on Facebook and Twitter @erinred.

EP20: Andy Tabar from Compassion Co Talks Vegan Biz!

Hey Party People!

Totally crazy to me that I’m up to Episode Twenty already, y’all.  F’reals.  Bonkers.

Anywho, this week I had a blast chatting with Andy Tabar from Compassion Co about the ins and outs and all abouts of running a small vegan business.  He’s a heck of a dude with a heck of a heart and I’m so glad he could be a part of Red Radio!

On top of that, I break some awesome news about The Seed and share a Compassionate Clip of the Week featuring my vegan hero, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau!  WOWZA!

Holy Cow, Episode Twenty already!  Erin Red interviews Andy Tabar, founder of kickass vegan messagewear company Compassion Co., on the trials and adventures in starting and running a small vegan business, the fair-trade/vegan connection, and his journey to veganism.  EP20 also features an update on the latest happenings at The Seed: A Vegan Experience and an especially poignant Compassionate Clip of the Week! Remember:  Red Radio is 100% listener supported!  Please consider donating by visiting Erin Red and Red Radio at and clicking the DONATE button!  You can also read her blog at, and find her on Facebook and Twitter @erinred.
