Easy Like Sunday Morning

First and foremost I want to take a moment to celebrate the rousing success of The Seed: A Vegan Experience’s inaugural event.  The show went far and beyond our expectations, and our intention was always to move forward with a second show in December and possibly go on the road in 2013.  On the evening of Sunday, June 24th, I received an email from my co-founder, Harvey Fung, stating that he has decided to sever our professional relationship, and that he and the rest of the team intends to move forward without me.  This obviously comes as a huge shock.  

Aside from one individual hired two weeks prior to The Seed’s debut (and staff hired after my departure), there were NO vegan individuals on staff, which is one of the reasons my involvement was so aggressively publicized.  I provided the concept, the name, the mission, the vendors, the participants and the comprehensive knowledge of and connections to the vegan community.  My co-founder merely provided the venue and the funds.  Presently, he and the rest of his team at 82Mercer are in possession of all of my contact lists, vendor lists, show ideas, and far beyond, and they will continue to use them to go forth with The Seed without me on board. 

The good news is that I have full intentions of pursuing my original concept and proceeding with my event, however under these circumstances I will need to find a new partner(s) and location, and perhaps under a new name, as I am no longer affiliated with ‘The Seed’ or 82Mercer or HSRCorp, the corporations behind The Seed. 

If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in joining me to continue with the the next incarnation of ‘The Seed’, please contact me!  I can’t do this on my own, but rest assured that the show will carry on and our ethics and standards will be higher than ever.  We have sparked something unique and bold, breaking new ground; something that we could spread across the country and beyond.  It is truly exciting and we can’t let it fall to the wayside simply because of a lack of location.  That’s all we lost.  And I’m confident we can find something better.

Holy Vegan Cannoli, guys… RED RADIO EPISODE THIRTY!  THIRTY!!!!  I can barely believe it.  

So I apologize for this post arriving so late in the game, but there have been some seriously serious developments in the life of Erin Red over the past week or so.  I am not at liberty to divulge just yet, but stay tuned…I will likely make some announcements in EP31 and beyond, and will obviously be blogging along with that.  It shouldn’t come as any surprise to anyone…I’m not one to keep my mouth shut about much, let alone about myself.

This is how I know I’m pretty much busier than ever:  I opened this page to start writing my blog post over four hours ago.  Every once in a while I’d click back to see how far along I was (blank page every time) and then forget about it entirely when something else came up.

Seriously, it just happened again.  There was a 30 minute break between the last paragraph and this one. 

And another 45 minutes between these two.  FOCUS, RED.  FOCUS!

…Ok, now it’s about 48 hours since I started this blog post, and I’m even more zombie-fied than I was in the first place.  Let’s just get to these show notes before I melt into my computer, yes?

Big news, y’all!

This coming Friday, June 8th from 3:35pm until 3:55pm (EST), I will be featured on Animal Voices Radio Vancouver to talk about Red Radio, my thoughts on vegan advocacy, and The Seed: A Vegan Experience!  

Animal Voices Radio is Vancouver, Canada’s only animal rights radio show, which has been on the air since March 2010.  Here’s a quick blurb from their website!

Yeah, totally NBD.  Just that I spoke to ultra-endurance athlete Rich Roll for Episode Twenty Eight of Red Radio IS ALL.  

WHAT?!

Yeah, kids - you read right!  Rich was kind enough to take some time out to chat with me about his journey to veganism, his struggle with alcoholism, finding his path to wellness, and his plant-based athletic adventures.  I really can’t wait to read his recently released book, Finding Ultra - the reviews are already outstanding and the subject matter, let’s face it, is RIGHT up my alley.  I’ll have to pick up a copy and have Rich sign it when I see him in TWO WEEKS at The Seed: A Vegan Experience, where he’ll be speaking about Plant Power Performance on Saturday, June 16th at 10:15am.  How exciting is THAT!?

Aside from that I introduce my latest furry family member, as well as wax poetic about my hero, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, and her game-changing podcast, Vegetarian Food For Thought.  I’m a total fangirl; deal with it.
