EP46 & EP47 Show Notes (Double Trouble!)

Welp, guys… considering my internet connection is spotty right now (the dang storm is OVER; enough already!), and also the fact that this may be the last time I have to sit down in front of my computer until… I don’t even know when…. I’m gonna go ahead and crank out two episodes worth of Show Notes in one pretty little blog post.  Take that, internet!

Alrighty, so here’s what we got going here…

Red Radio EP46: Veteran Activist Liz White Talks ‘Saving Dinah’ & More!

Red Radio EP47:  West Coast Fresh Veggie Lauren & More!

(Yes, that’s the notorious Philly Whispers between us)

That should just about do it, kids…stay tuned for Lauren’s Fresh Veggies Questionnaire!

EP46: Veteran Activist Liz White Talks ‘Saving Dinah’ and More!

When I found out there was an upcoming feature film with vegan/AR themes I was excited enough - but once I discovered it’s entirely volunteer-made and produced by powerhouse animal activist Liz White, I was all “SNAP!”  Seriously, talk about a powerful production on behalf of the animals…‘Saving Dinah’ is bound to be a vegan classic. I can’t wait to see the film and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to speak to Liz for Red Radio Episode Forty Six.  She was truly inspiring and really got me pumped to see Saving Dinah.  I know I’m not the only one!

What’s more?  The wonderful folks over at Saving Dinah were kind enough to blog about Red Radio and yours truly - check it out at SavingDinah.com!

In Red Radio Episode Forty Six, Erin Red is honored to speak to powerful animal and environmental activist Liz White of Animal Alliance Canada, who also happens to be the Executive Producer for an upcoming AR film called Saving Dinah!  Learn all about the community-produced feature film, as well as Liz’s nearly THIRTY years of important work on behalf of the animals.  What a powerhouse!  Plus, Erin Red raves about her favorite chocolate goodies, and drops some important knowledge about feral cat colonies.  Meow!  Please consider supporting Red Radio by visiting erinred.com and clicking the DONATE button, and subscribe to Red Radio on iTunes today!  If you love what you hear, leave a glowing review, or drop Erin Red a line at erinredradio@gmail.com.  You can also read her blog at erinred.tumblr.com, and find her on Facebook and Twitter @erinred.

EP45: The Barbi Twins Get Active!

OK, so 3 weeks or so ago, I sent out a tweet to The Barbi Twins.  I was all, “Hey ladies, would love to have you on my podcast!”  Lo and behold, not 24 hours later, a direct message showed up on my account from the Twins… and the rest, as they say, is history!

I was so thrilled to have the chance to speak to Shane and Sia in Red Radio Episode Forty Five - of course they’re hilarious, spontaneous, and definitely out there… but their passion for helping animals and speaking out for the vegan lifestyle comes through crystal clear.  I have a lot of respect for celebrities who use their ‘powers’ for good, and that’s just what the girls are up to.  More power to ‘em!

You think you know, but you have no idea:  Erin Red welcomes animal activists extraordinaire Shane & Sia Barbi (better known as The Barbi Twins) to talk veganism, animal rights, grassroots activism and so much more in Red Radio Episode Forty Five!  Giggle along with the ladies while they use their 7 & 1/2 minutes (each) of fame to speak up on behalf of the animals.  Plus, Erin Red Raves about her favorite vegan lip balm, and a Compassionate Clip featuring Steve-O!  ROCK ON!

EP44 Show Notes!

So I’m sitting here at Sun In Bloom in beautiful Brooklyn, waiting for Basil, who’s getting his hair did.  No complaints here - I’ve already had an amazing veggie-packed miso soup and now I’m waiting for my chia almond milk porridge.  Epic win.

Alright I’m swamped with stuff to handle before the little terror is ready to go, so let’s do this!  Red Radio EP44 featured Mark Devries, director, producer and writer of Speciesism: The Movie.  We got into some pretty heavy stuff, and I’m glad we did - just who do we humans think we are, anyway?

Alrighty then!  Catch you crazy kids for EP45 - post coming up tonight!

EP40: Erin Red Welcomes Vegan Mafia Don Simone Reyes!

Uhhhh…. holy crap.  I interviewed Simone Reyes.  And it was one of those interviews that charged my vegan batteries BIG TIME - like after it was over I was in the mood to go picket something or demonstrate somewhere or bake a bunch of delicious vegan cookies and shove them down some omnivore’s throat.  Yeah, it was THAT AWESOME.

And for the record, we DID touch on the PETA thing.  Kinda apropos, because I’d just spoken about it with Ryan Patey in Red Radio EP39… and talk about different points of view!  For those of you who noticed that I seem to be waffling on the subject, well… I am.  Why?  Because I’m truly conflicted.  I have a rough time grilling people on the topic because every time I feel like I’ve secured a solid opinion, I dig a little deeper and find that I’m still quite undecided.  So, instead of pretending I know all the answers - SURPRISE!  I don’t! - I’d rather just continue to dissect the subject.  And dissect, I shall.  Keep your ears peeled.

In the meantime, give Red Radio Episode Forty a listen!  And remember, I’m on hiatus this week (due to my trip to Toronto for the Vegetarian Food Festival) and will return to the web-waves on Monday, September 17th with EP41 - not to worry!

Erin Red is thrilled to welcome hardcore animal activist Simone Reyes to Red Radio in Episode Forty!  Longtime vegan, blogger, reality television star and personal assistant to Super Vegan (and Erin Red’s idol) Russell Simmons, Simone lays it on thick while discussing some very powerful topics.  From her humble beginnings running around New York City with the Beastie Boys to her very public demonstrations for PETA, listen in on what makes this brave activist tick and refuel your vegan engines!  Plus, Erin Red weighs in on veganism as it relates to yoga – can you be an Omni Yogi? (Hell naw!)  Please consider supporting Red Radio by visiting erinred.com and clicking the DONATE button, and subscribe to Red Radio on iTunes today!  If you love what you hear, leave a glowing review, or drop Erin Red a line at erinredradio@gmail.com.  You can also read her blog at erinred.tumblr.com, and find her on Facebook and Twitter @erinred.

EP29: The Seed Blooms with Jasmin & Mariann from Our Hen House!

IT’S THE WEEK OF THE SHOW, Y’ALL!

(Sometimes the Musical Theatre Nerd in me shines through…I can’t help it.)

Seriously, though…The Seed: A Vegan Experience is happening in FIVE FREAKING DAYS and aside from the near bath-salts-level hysteria I’m suffering, all I feel is utter excitement and disbelief that this project is coming to fruition.  Honestly, it was always comfortable in my brain as ‘this thing’ that was happening in the distant future, like going to see a movie or a trip to a theme park…but man, it’s real.  And it’s here.  And I’m so super grateful to be a part of it!

You know who else is mega excited?  HOW APROPOS OF YOU TO ASK!  None other than Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan of Our Hen House, that’s who!  The two vegan powerhouses joined me on Red Radio Episode Twenty Nine for a special, extended interview on Animal Rights, vegan outreach, the future of the movement and - of course - all the juicy details on The Seed!  This one’s not to be missed!

Red Radio Episode Twenty Nine celebrates the arrival of The Seed: A Vegan Experience, featuring a special extended interview with none other than Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan of Our Hen House.  Erin Red joins the lovely ladies in a three-way-interview to discuss all kinds of activism, the recent surge in the vegan movement, and all the amazing attractions you can expect to enjoy at The Seed in NYC!  Plus, a GIVEAWAY!!!  Email Erin Red describing what you’re most looking forward to exploring at The Seed, and you could win one of three pairs of tickets to the event – on Saturday 06/16, Sunday 06/17…or BOTH!  Make sure to send your entry to erinredradio@gmail.com before 11:59p on Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 and stay tuned to Twitter/FB/tumblr for the winner announcements!  SEE YOU AT THE SEED!

GIVEAWAY DETAILS!

That’s right, Red Radio is making sure you can be a part of The Seed: A Vegan Experience! I’m giving away THREE PAIRS of tickets to the big event, for either Saturday (06/16), Sunday (06/17) or, if you have the weekend off, BOTH DAYS!  All you have to do is shoot me over a quick email telling me what part of The Seed you’re most excited about - is it the food?  A particular film or speaker?  The Cinnamon Snail? - to erinredradio@gmail.com before Wednesday, June 13th at 11:59pm.  Three winners will be randomly selected and you and a friend will be walking through the doors at 82Mercer FREE OF CHARGE this weekend….NICE!

Get on it, y’all!

And don’t forget - there’s a possibility that Red Radio EP30 will not be released until Monday, June 30th.  Please stay tuned and I will keep everyone posted on progress…and of course I thank you all for your patience and understanding.  After all, I’m only one (powerful, motivated, energized, committed) vegan!

Show notes coming soon!
