My name is Erin, but everyone calls me Red and that's just fine with me.

I'm a certified VLCE and Vegan Nutrition Specialist, fitness professional, public speaker, writer, consultant, kitchen wrangler, problem solver, host of the popular vegan podcast Red Radio, and right-hand-woman to vegan Wunderkind Chef Jay Astafa. I also co-founded The Seed in 2012, and continue to organize events across North America.

By night I'm a muay Thai practitioner, runner, Bikram Yogini, and tattoo collector. I share my pad with a vegan human, a vegan dog, and two carnivorous cats… all rescued. I hail from Toronto, Canada but Brooklyn, NYC is home.

I hustle. Hard.

Try to keep up.

EP31: Real Talk with Vegan Superstar Ari Solomon!

Honestly, guys…never a dull moment.  There’s a quote from one of my favorite songs, Extraordinary Machine by Fiona Apple, that goes…

…but I’m good at being uncomfortable so I can’t stop changing all the time.

Best explanation ever.  I’m often overwhelmed by how quickly my life moves…but it’s definitely exhilarating and dammit, I’m good at it.  And so it goes.

I know, I’m being super hipster-cryptic right now - I’ll stop.  But know that big announcements are coming up (aren’t they always?) and have faith that forward is the only direction I know.  Seriously.  Ask my boxing coaches and muay Thai Kru.

Red Radio Episode Thirty One is one of my favorites so far.  I had such a great time chatting with vegan advocate and animal activist Ari Solomon - he and I are definitely kindred spirits and it was awesome to learn about his world.  I also included a particularly biting Compassionate Clip of the Week to rev your engines a little bit.  You know how I do!

Erin Red interviews her friend and vegan superstar Ari Solomon in Red Radio Episode Thirty One!  Vegan advocate, animal and human rights activist, and President of vegan candle company A Scent of Scandal, Ari shares his path to veganism and activism in his usual hysterical fashion.  Hear about Ari’s humble New Jersey beginnings, his vegan moment of clarity, his marriage to husband Mikko Alanne, and his passion for justice for all species!  Plus, a truly outspoken Compassionate Clip of the Week!  Please consider supporting Red Radio by visiting and clicking the DONATE button, and subscribe to Red Radio on iTunes today!  If you love what you hear, leave a glowing review, or drop Erin Red a line at  You can also read her blog at, and find her on Facebook and Twitter @erinred.
