So when this whole Ellen DeGeneres/Backyard Eggs situation broke, pretty much every vegan everywhere was gabbing about it.  For good reason, too - it’s kind of a hot debate.  When I realized how it blew up, naturally I wanted to discuss it on Red Radio.  After reading a handful of blogs on the subject, I was particularly taken by Sarah E. Brown’s discussion.  Suffice to say I was pumped when she agreed to join me and Laura Yaz on the show as an extention of our regular segment, The V-Hollywood Report.

As you can see, ErinRed.com is a work in progress and it’s coming together in bits and pieces.  Forgive me for posting the Red Radio Holiday Giveaway winners a couple days late; the new blog only became active today!  There are still plenty of kinks to iron out, but I didn’t want y’all to have to wait for the good news, so here we go!

Red Radio is ONE, y’all!  That’s right - one glorious year of vegan podcasting goodness under the belt.  The way I’ve been eating lately, I’m frankly surprised anything else can fit under my belt…but there it is.  I can’t hardly believe it myself!

When it came time to decide on a guest for Red Radio Episode Forty Nine - THE BIRTHDAY EP! - it was kind of a no-brainer.  Colleen Patrick-Goudreau was my very first guest way back on EP1, and it seemed apropos to bring her back.  We were lucky enough to spend some quality time together this year, and I wanted to show off her more casual side.  She’s a nut, and now you all understand.  Mission accomplished.

Never fear, folks… all is well at Casa Roja.  There were some pretty serious winds out there, and the rain was falling sideways, but we had power/internet/an open deli throughout the whole storm and Basil spent most of the event curled up with us in the bed.  I reeeeeeaaallly need to get back to work (and the gym), but everything’s hunky dory on our side of things.  Sending love and blessings to those who weren’t so lucky.

When I found out there was an upcoming feature film with vegan/AR themes I was excited enough - but once I discovered it’s entirely volunteer-made and produced by powerhouse animal activist Liz White, I was all “SNAP!”  Seriously, talk about a powerful production on behalf of the animals…‘Saving Dinah’ is bound to be a vegan classic. I can’t wait to see the film and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to speak to Liz for Red Radio Episode Forty Six.  She was truly inspiring and really got me pumped to see Saving Dinah.  I know I’m not the only one!

OK, so 3 weeks or so ago, I sent out a tweet to The Barbi Twins.  I was all, “Hey ladies, would love to have you on my podcast!”  Lo and behold, not 24 hours later, a direct message showed up on my account from the Twins… and the rest, as they say, is history!

I was so thrilled to have the chance to speak to Shane and Sia in Red Radio Episode Forty Five - of course they’re hilarious, spontaneous, and definitely out there… but their passion for helping animals and speaking out for the vegan lifestyle comes through crystal clear.  I have a lot of respect for celebrities who use their ‘powers’ for good, and that’s just what the girls are up to.  More power to ‘em!

You guys, I really can’t wait to see Speciesism: The Movie.  I was excited before, but after speaking to producer, writer and director Mark Devries in Red Radio Episode 44, I’m extra pumped up.  Obviously the film will cover some heavy stuff, but by the sounds of it, it’s going to be entertaining and truly thought-provoking, too.  My kinda movie!  

If it’s released in theaters I’m definitely going to plan a group trip for sure.  Don’t be jello - come with!  Srsly, if you’re in the NY area and wanna make it happen, y’all know where to find me!
